Religion or nationality has never killed anyone but religious people and nationalists have. The problem is not with religion or nationalism... the problem is how people use religion to divide, to conquer, to control and the same holds true for nationalism. In fact all the "ism's" are designed to separate. The only reason another human being would desire to exacerbate religious and cultural differences is out of fear. People hate what they fear. People fear and hate others because they don't know who they are. If I learn to love and appreciate me it would be very difficult to hate and disrespect you. Why? Because at the very least, I would respect your humanity. True nationalists celebrate the differences. True religion celebrates all God's creation.

Nationality has a place.

Analogy: Glasgow. It's had a rough time, but over the last 20 years or so it has slowly pulled itself out of the gutter and is now a serious player. That's because for a Glaswegian, Glasgow virtually is your nationality (and don't try to deny it, weegies). If that loyalty had not been there, those able Glaswegians would not have stayed and would not have had that effect. Now Glasgow is a place people go to learn, hone their skills and express themselves, and out of it come world-changers.

Nations at their best are just like that.

I am less crazy about religion, simply because it lacks a basis in truth. I believe passionately in science over religion.

But would we just find more reasons to fight anyway? If we had the self respect that comes from belonging and personal growth, no we would not.

I think the world would be a better place if there was no religion or nationality but only if wealth was shared equally between everybody. The sooner people realise that we are all just human beings trying to get by on the same planet the sooner we would all get along and work together to save our home instead of destroying it.

Lot of people need to believe in something. It's probably impossible that no country has its own religion. What other reasons ? I don't know but in a few years we will know it. How to believe still today in 2000 years old laws ?

If there were no religion, then all the Christians would think it was ok to randomly kill people. After all, it's not common sense that tells you shouldn't hurt others, it's the Bible that tells you that. There are obvious exceptions such as disrespectful children, adulterers, and unmarried non-virgin women; in which case the Bible states that it's ok to stone all of them.

Are you quoting John Lennon's "Imagine"?

Probably not, as then we'd have no culture, heritage or background- it's good in some cases

You are right.
Tolerance is the problem and money is another one.
Fight and kill each other are part of human nature.

problem is avoid the fact that we are different. Everybody says that we are equal, but it isn't right. We have differences and thanks God for that!
