Fantasy-- because I myself am a very imaginative person and I like the challenge of mentally conjuring up images of dragons and centaurs and wizards and all the normal fantastic beings and things in fantasy books.
Science fiction...I like it basically for the same reason as fantasy except it is even more exciting because it might not be so far outside the realm of possibility.
I dont know if this is a genre per se but plain old fiction books from the 1800s and 1900s are very good too and I have a collection of old books that I love alot, so I guess it would be Classic literature that I like too.

I guess I like reading biographies, because I love getting insight into the lives and inspirations of people I admire. I recently read Buster Keaton's autobiography, My Wonderful World of Slapstick, which was good. Pretty sad, though. He had a hard life. I've read the Beatles Anthology 4 or 5 times, too.
When I'm feeling more intellectual (rare), I read philosophy. I've been plowing through a collection of Einstein's essays for some time now.

Mystery, history, inspirational quotations and short stories, art related material. I love to read, anything really, but love a good mystery. I can get lost in the story and it's fun trying to figure out Who Done It! Also enjoy reading true historical books containing real journals of people who have traveled and overcome obstacles. I like anything that contributes to my self-improvement.

Yes.
Plain and simple.
I read literally anything I can get my hands on from Drama, to New Age, to Sword and Sorcery, to Space Opera, to Military, to How-To, to stuff that kids write in school that I find on the street.

I am a writer, and I am influenced by everything, and can pick something up that I can steal... uh... "incorporate" into my writing.
Besides... there is so much good stuff out there, that not reading it causes you to miss something

My favorite genre of reading is the action-adventure stuff, ya know, with the puzzles ya have to figure out. I love trying to figure out what the villain is trying to do.

I love books on the civil war but when I need a break from those I like Harry Turtledove and his alternate history books, there's a lot of true history in them and the idea of what if can really make me think about things.

History books and autobiographies. History is important in order to understand why the world is the way it is today. Autobiographies are interesting because one is able to live vicariously through the author.

Classical non-fiction, novels, particularly. Why? I love books that can tell so much more of their time, not just in the settings but in the schools of thought that involuntarily permeate the story (most of the time).

Fantasy/fiction, because I like to escape the real world, so I jump into stuff that's totally imposible. It's kind of bad, but I don't really care.
