We have a new nurse where I work at who we all know happens to be a thief. We are all women where I work and I filled the bathroom with "bath and body works" treats. Over this pass weekend some of the stuff came up missing and when it was mentioned the nurse claimed her son took it. I told the boss but she did nothing about it but ask her to bring it back. I am pissed at the fact that it's okay for her and her children to come in their and take other people's belongings and not even the Dr. do anything about it but say make sure it comes back. Any other job you would be written up or fired. Am I wrong for feeling and thinking this way? How do you think I should handle it?

I forgot to add this is a Dr.'s office, and we have 6 people all together so it is verry small. She admitted her son had taken it, and I guess I don't want to work somewhere where I have to watch my every move and all my stuff, it's horrible to have to live that way. Were nurses and it just shouldn't be like that and I can't believe she is allowed to do these things she has even taken cleaning stuff and toilet paper from the clinic and she gets away with everything, so I am giving my two week notice tomorrow

I myself work at a store where a gentleman was stealing watches and shoes around the holidays and nothing was done to reprimand him. The sad part is he was kinda new and everyone knew he was stealing but he got away with it. Then my manager when it was all said and done had enough nerve to promote him to Employee of the Month!

My point is even though that your coworker is getting away with being a thief fret not. Her ways will catch up to her sooner or later. You don't have to quit your job over a thief. Just never allow yourself to forget that she is a thief, don't trust her with anything, and don't leave anything of value around her not ANYTHING.

Someday she will fiddle around with the wrong persons belongings and she will catch hell 10 fold in some sort of way. She will be rewarded for her efforts sooner or later if she keeps it up and it won't be pretty. And when it happens just sit back relax and watch it all EXPLODE IN HER FACE!

From a legal standpoint, you dont have any actualproof that she indeed actually took anything. In order for your boss to do anything he would have had to see her himself willingly take something that he knew for a fact wasnt hers. If he fired her on hearsay which is all youve given him then hed be in legal trouble. Thats just the way the courts are nowadays. Now you can advice him of such stating that things have a habit of disappearing when shes around and could he keep an eye on her if possible. Now if you say anything about her stealing, put it as heard thru the grapevine from good sources or if she gets wind of you saying such she could sue you for violating her rights. Hope this makes sense and good luck with her

To be honest, At all the jobs i have ever worked at,everyone is scamming, borrowing, stealing, slacking off work, turning up drunk or not turning up at all. I was seen as an odd ball as i believe you get paid to work, not to socialise , steal etc.... I dont have any freinds at work and because of that i dont meet people from work outside of office hours.
I dont think your boss can fire someone, unless they have enough proof... now-days if you fire someone, you have to do it by they book, else they employee can file for unfair dismissal etc.

No, I mean if she can take your stuff, she can do alot more. If I were you I would not say a word unless it was actually medically immoral, not bath and body works. Like drugs or fake documentation. And even then don't say it to her just say it to the doctor. HIPPA if you know what I mean. Bath and Body Works isn't worth losing your job.

whereas your boss will not do anything about it, there's not much that can be done at all. It's a shame that people are like that but, they are !!!
Being honest on your part is noble and be proud of it. Just watch your property around this person and good luck.

I think you should talk to her about why its wrong, and if it doesn't work, lock the stuff up over the night and weekends.
