Shows like The Center with Julissa and 106 and Park with Rocsi Notice i asked if there should be hispanic hosts on BET. I didn't ask who owns the network or if BET sucks. Please stick to the question. I personally don't have any problems with it but I know a tremendous amount of african americans do so i was just wondering how the world felt about it?

Before you answer if you're not african american. Imagine if there was a white network or a hispanic network for example. Keep in mind that there are black people who like black and celebrity artists. Would you like it if you saw a black person hosting on your people's network. Even if there are black fans.

Seems to me that's not exactly the intended demographic. What with it being Black Entertainment Television. Maybe I missed something, but isn't that akin to Merle Haggard wearing FUBU?

I'm a white girl who doesn't watch BET. With that said, I see nothing wrong with Hispanic hosts on BET. Its audience is not exclusively black people, and I always thought the name of the network meant that the entertainment was provided BY black entertainers, not necessarily only FOR black audiences. Hispanic hosts can show just as much reverence for the medium as black hosts can. At the same time, that would mean white hosts would be just as plausible. My guess is that most people wouldn't be as okay with that as they would with Hispanic hosts.

No I don't think so... I don't have a problem with Hispanics but I feel like they take advantage of African Americans wanting to be incorporated in positive movements yet always wanting to maintain separate at times even behaving as if being considered African American is an insult. I understand honoring your heritage and everyone should be proud of who they are and BET is one of our ways to show pride.

Doesn't BET stand for Black Entertainment Television. What does that have to do with Hispanics?

It's called Black Entertainment Network - I'm okay with only Black hosts - not everything has to be integrated.

BET is black entertainment television......for black people, not hispanics. It's their station, so naturally, there are not going to be a lot other types of hosts.

Its BET (Black Entertainment Television), not HBET (Hispanic and Black Entertainment Television), Turn on Telemundo and tell me how many African Americans you see....hell turn on the WB...and tell me how many hispanics or black people you see. Its called Marketing...catering to your audience.

Sure, why not. Hispanics, Asians, White people, etc.. watch BET, so why not have hosts of different races?
