It's a common picnic trick... it's designed to keep flies out. The water in the plastic gives the illusion of bigger proportions and to a fly's eye's it makes them look like huge insects... they fear being eaten, so they fly away...

My understanding is that it is supposed to look like a hornet's nest to a fly (I don't know how many flies were polled to get that information.) and since hornets eats flies, flies don't go near what they perceive (notice I didn't say "think") as hornet's nests.

I dont know and I work at Mickey D's. We don't do that at our store. It probably is some bug thing. But I have to laugh at mazdaman who told you to learn how to spell and couldn't spell himself.
