Why are American Tv announcers far more attractive, sophisticated and better dressed that the english ones. They have better figures and their clothes are a lot better also. Some of our announcers have bad diction ..look frumpy....have bad clothing and hair styles. Why cant they tidy themselves up a bit?

Well, kiddo, English announcers are, um, how to put this ... English!
No, seriously, the media ladder in England requires some journalistic talent from their on-air personalities. They must have brains, by and large (although there are some notable exceptions, especially in the sports announcing arena).
In the US, the TV personalities are chosen for their looks. Then they are groomed, and dressed, and made up. After all that's done, the producers MAY check to see if they can actually read the teleprompters.
It's a matter of priority ... do you want your newscasters to be news-people or do you want "Barbie and Ken read the news"?

What? I don't know how american tv works, but on 'English' tv, you don't see the announcers. The announcers are the people who tell you what show is coming on next, you just hear their voices.
If you in fact mean presenters, maybe it's because we're more interested in what they have got to say than what they look like?

The American dudes have been accused many times of being over groomed--there are comments from time to time in polite converstions in this country that someone looks like a tv host---not all that much of a good thing in that context--it is meant that the person is somewhat of a stuffed shirt

Oh my, people are dying and u are concerned about their style of clothing and figures. God help us all here and there!

I would much rather watch British TV because the people look real. Our people look like idiotic Barbie & Ken dolls.
