You know it with the pass of time, to know the answer of that question you have to be patient and if after time passes by and after going through situations both good and bad you want to be with this someone then you are in love.
Also, Antirion's comment is a good point of reference but remeber, it's not only about sex

Only time will tell. If you've just met and it seems perfect in a little time you'll find out what the faults are and then you get to decide if you can live with those faults (if so it might be love) then if you give it a little more time and you find bigger faults but the good out weighs the bad then I'd say it is love. But it all takes time. How long depends on you

Its hard to tell but just stop and think ( Do I want to spend the rest of my life with this person? ) There should be a little voice in you that tells you yes or no.

How do you feel after the sex? Did it just itch a scratch, or did you wake up feeling fulfilled? Pretty good indicator.
