The Shining with Jack Nicholson is STILL one of the most creepy atmospheric movies out there. I think it's so creepy because it's not a building with alot of dark places or sneaky things happening in corners, it's all out in the open. When the little boy is riding the big wheel down the hallway. Man, that's one of the most memorable sequences in movie horror history.
As for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it's only "loosely" based around true stories. None of that movie is even remotely close to true. Look up Wisconsin serial killers on google, and you'll see most of the story through a couple of different profiles of serial killers. Sometimes real life is creepier.

Out of the handfuls of horror/suspense action pictures that i've got seen,i will in straightforward terms think of of a few that the two made me flinch,or saved me up for some nights. From newbie to maximum terrifying,I certainly have arise with my checklist of the scariest video clips. •The Exorcist •Nightmare On Elm highway(unique version from the 80's) •Texas Chainsaw bloodbath(2003) •Bless the toddler •Orphan •Halloween a million and 2(unique variations. no longer the Rob Zombie remake,even nonetheless they have been frightening too) •Stephen King's It(i do in contrast to clowns via fact of that action picture) •Stephen King's Sleepwalkers •The Messengers •Quarantine •Hostel a million and 2(i could no longer save my eyes uncovered)

Wolf Creek....very scary because it's based on true events...check it out.....that and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre....again because it's true story
