The definition may vary from state to state, but under most lemon laws, a car is considered to be a lemon if the dealer can not repair or replace a problem with your vehicle by the second or third try. The law would give you specific rights as to reimbursement and weather you get your money back or get a new car.

It is a car that is a piece of junk. When someone sells you a lemon, they are basically ripping you off by selling you a car that is in bad condition, even though it appears not to be.

a 1990 Nissan Sentra GXE. Grrrrrrrrrr......

In other words, a car that should have never come off the assembly line, one that is constantly in for repairs. I also think Lemon Laws vary by state.

For example, in NYS: http://www.oag.state.ny.us/consumer/cars/usedqa.html
