They formed in Los Angeles in 1992. Their first CD came out in 1994 (the first self titled one, aka the blue album). They put out their 2nd cd "Pinkerton" in 1996, despite a failed attempt by Pinkerton Securty company to keep them from using the name. (The title Pinkerton comes from the opera "Madame Butterfly" and there are several referneces to it in the CD). After that the band went on hiatus for a few years, and bassist Matt Sharp left to work with his other band The Rentals. They released their 3rd CD in 2001 (the green album), and have gone downhill ever since. Their albums have gotten progressively worse, and it's no surprise that they've broken up. They really should have broken up 5 years ago. They used to write brilliant songs, such as "Only In Dreams", and now they just put out mindless drivel like "Beverly Hills."

Weezer has also played shows under the psuedonymn "Goat Punishment," where they played several Nirvana covers. Drummer Patrick Wilson currently sings and plays guitar for the band Special Goodness. Rivers Cuomo recently graduated from Harvard, after like a million years.
