Say what you want about Roman but he did things other players were afraid to do on and off the court. rebounding taking charges or just making a player mad enough to get a technical foul . (I would have love to see him & big ben wallace go at it)
one of the best

Dennis Rodman was a great player that mastered the defensive, rebounding and mental game better than any other player in history. He conquered his small size with intensity and effort to average 18 rebounds a game some seasons. However, the antics were as mucha part of his mental game as anything. Rodman was great at getting under the skin of other players and taking them out of their games. These antics often ended with the team on the receving end of Rodman's actions being punised more than Rodman(by losing players when Rodman wasn't caught and losing players more valuable than Rodman when was caught.) Great player, but his antics on the court were definitely a huge part of his game, so they should not eb shunned from this answer.

Can't stand him. He's so OVER-RATED its sick!

7 points per game.....13 rebounds per game....just over 1 assist per game.... Hardly stellar numbers. And not even one block or steal per game for someone supposed to be so great on defense.

In an age of instant gratification, Rodman was more of a celebrity than a basketball player. He was more of a burdon to any team than an asset. He did what HE wanted to do...to hell with the team.

A winner? He was a minor contributor to the Pistons in 89-90, they would have won without him. The Spurs never won a championship with him, and he may have caused them to lose one in 95. By the time he joined the Bulls, the league was so watered down it didn't matter, plus they had Jordan and Pippen.

Greatest rebounder of alltime? That one is laughable. He's not even close to being in the same class as Wilt, Russell, Petitt etc... NOT EVEN CLOSE!! Both Wilt and Russell averaged over 20 rpg.

The best summary I can give you regarding Rodman is from back in 1987 after the Pistons lost the eastern conference finals thanks to Larry Birds famous steal. In the Detroit locker room after the game, a reporter asked Rodman what he thought about Larry Bird, and Rodman replied "if Bird was black, he'd just be another good player".

That is the perfect description of Dennis Rodman's basketball intellect!

Dennis Rodman was a winner pure a simple. He made the plays nobdy else wanted to even try. Best rebounder of alltime?? NO. Just look at the stats of wilt, russell and malone and try to tell me different. He was never "the man" on any team but he made thomas and j-d better in d-town, helped jordan and co. win three more championships and did his thing in with s.a. also. Rodman was one of the most unique players of his era, hard working, hustler that just had a few screws loose and if it wasn't for that ,the real question would be "whats your opinion on Dennis Rodman making the hall of fame?

Dennis Rodman was a master at playing the defensive rebounding and mental game of basketball of this era, he conquered the small and intensity, with effort I would say about
18 rebounds per game a season.

Top three defensive plays of all time. Maybe the most passionate player of all-time. He did things to save balls and get rebounds that NO player in the NBA would do today. He earned every penny he ever made. I saw one picture of him where he was stretched out perfectly horizontal over the stands trying to save a ball.
