They give you a Pap smear urine test and maybe blood work.

You don't say how old you are, but if you are considering birth control and are a teen, discuss it with at least your Mom or another adult you are comfortable with. You will need a doctor's appointment. They will do a pelvic exam, Pap test, probably a breast exam and discuss your options -- pill (you MUST remember to take daily), shots, or patches. Most likely there won't be any blood work, but a good physical is a MUST. You can obtain the pills from your local health department. You can probably also get an exam there. These are free, or very low cost. Good Luck.

My advice, maybe not the answer you want.
1. Talk to your parents and let them know what you would like to do.
2. Once the above is done, all I did when I got on them was made an appointment with my doctor and told him I wanted on them. Had a pap test before I got the prescription. Once you start taking them you have to wait I think (not positive) a month before they will actually be effective.

Most doctors will do a physical exam on you. A breast exam and a pelvis exam. They may do a pap smear if u have never had one before just to make sure all is well before putting u on the pill. They will asl alot of questions- be honest with him so he can give you the best pill for you! Its all a little awkward and embarrassing but not half as embarrassing as pushing a 8 lb baby out of your coochie in front of a male doctor!!! Its well worth it!

You will have to see your regular doctor or a GYN doctor, for a PAP test. This will be a yearly appointment. Then just ask your doctor about going on the pill. Once you start taking the pill, it takes a full month to be completely effective, without missing any days.
