In their cars, or central air conditioning at home?

I lived in Seattle as a kid and don't remember anyone having anything airconditioned. I'm now in the WASH DC area - 95 outside right now- awful!

I live in the Seattle area, Everett, to be exact. My house is pretty old, and we don't have airconditioning. There are a few days every year when AC would be nice. But we sleep with just a sheet over us, and a window fan in one window and the other window wide open. In the livingroom we have a fan in the front door and the back door is open for a cross breeze. We have a ceiling fan in the living room, and for those few days when the temp goes over 90 we're fairly comfy.

We cook our dinner out on the deck on our gas grill and microwave the rest of dinner. We survive the really hot, by Seattle standards, days.

I lived in Bakersfield, CA for about fifteen years before returning to Seattle. As a result of my Bakersfield "exile", I developed a much higher melting point than the rest of the Seattalites who never left home. My husband who has only lived in Washington and Idaho gets hot and miserable quicker than me!

Seattle area summers are dry by east coast and midwestern standards, but are more humid than Bakersfield. Our climate is moderated by the Pacific Ocean and Puget Sound.

AC would be nice, but then I'm not a spoiled northwesterner who melts at the mearest mention of an eighty degree day!

I have AC in my car, but the coolant has run out, so I just sweat it out. I really don't feel any pressing need to spend $200 on AC coolant in my car. The crack in the windshild is a priority.

Keep cool in the other Washington, okay?

Both Seattle and Vancouver are GREAT for weekend getaways of any type. No shortage of good food, nice places to stay, good shopping, or things to do in either place. Personally, I prefer Vancouver. Can't tell you why -- I just like it a little better than Seattle.

I lived in Seattle for a year, and I loved it...I will go back. AC, I didn't notice. However, if I lived there permanently; I would have it because of the rain there is green moss or something growing on everything. If you sat still long enough I believe you would turn green too! AC would probably filter out the spores in the air.

People in those areas practically never have AC--- OK let me clarify, cars, yes like every where else in the world. Houses no, I lived in Washington from birth until age 20 and I met one person in my whole life who has it, which is very strange because there is only about 20 to 30 days in a whole year where you need it, and even when it's hot there no humidity like of the east coast. However most large shopping centers movie theaters and mall have it a real convenience, out side you where t_shirt ans shorts because its 80 degrees, then you walk in and need a jacket because its like 60 degrees inside, hope ziss helps

I live in Seattle, and if you commute across the 520 bridge in the summertime, you'll appreciate air conditioning.

Of course I ride the bus but not everyone does.

I lived in Vancouver for many many years.

Air is absolutely NOT necessary in and around Vancouver.

I now live one hour inland - Chilliwack, south of Sumas Washington.
Air would be really nice for about three months a year. BUT it does cool off at night.

I'm not sure about BC, but people in Seattle do have A/C in their homes and cars just like everyone else.

I just moved to Germany, though, and homes in Germany do not have A/C.

Kind of yes.

Even though it does not get too hot. Sometimes it gets stuffy indoors.

Plus in cars even though it might by 75 degrees outside in a parked car it feel like 85.
