What is a 'hale storm'?

In Alaska, we BBQ in any weather. What choice do we have? In a hail storm? Yes. In snow? Yes. The coldest we BBQ'd was -30F. My husband also smoked some fish that day and used a sleeping bag to insulate the smoker. So now we had this sleeping bag that smells like fish. I told him he's going to be the one sleeping in it this summer while camping (bears anyone?). So he threw it in the dump, and he told me he saw some guy dumpster diving it. OH GOD HELP HIM!!!!
