I had an awesome teacher in 7-9 grades. I was in his choir and typing classes (this is when the electric typewriter was just becoming popular). Mr. Carangelo was sooooooooooo cool!! In choir, he had this fishing rod that he would chase students with (teasingly, never hit anyone and wouldn't even dream of it). Students would hide it from him to tease him and he would still chase them to find it! They would give it to him in the end. He had brought his dog, Beethoven, into the choir room many times. The dog was deaf and blind, and very old, so he couldn't be left at home alone or else he would go up the stairs and fall down and break his neck. He used to be an opera singer, so he taught us how to sing the correct way. He considered ALL of his students throughout his many, many years of teaching as his own as he and his wife never had any. If one of 'his' students had a problem, he would be right there to counsel them, and help them thru things. He would pass out candy to the students a lot. He knew that I had diabetes, so he would get sugar free candy for me.
I remember my dad had had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery when I was in 8th or 9th grade. Mr. Carangelo picked up on how upset I was and talked with me for a long, long time to help me be able to deal wiht it.
My best friend and I had heard that he was retiring, so we went to see him at the school before he did. He remembered us right off and was sooooooooo happy to see us! I had called him many times after that. He passed away a few years ago, tho. I guess his wife, then his dog, passed away before him. I am 41 years old and still miss him to this day.

My favorite teacher had a way of treating us like we were important. I remember so many other teachers who, to this day, I would say did not like and did not understand kids. This one teacher though, made me think that what I had to say was important. It was not even one event in particular, it was just the way she was every day.

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Dahl. She was a really sweet lady and I was lucky enough to be in three of her classes. We went on a field trip to NASA that was a lot of fun.

yeah, my old history teacher 'tommy tindall' , he was really nice but the whole class just took the total p**s,
One student stole tommy's daily mars bar from his jacket pocket one morning and started eating it in class, he then asked the teacher, do you want a bit sir ?
no thanks, tommy replied, i have my own for the interval,, bless him.
