Microwaving milk or formula is bad because it kills off some of the nutrients. Microwaving can also cause hot spots, if it is an absolute necessity to microwave it mix it by turning the bottle upside down and few times to mix the milk.
Microwaved heating of expressed milk can reduce the beneficial effects of breast feeding, such as vitamins and antibodies.

No, never. Microwaving has several drawbacks for heating human milk, and some of them apply to formula, as well:
1. You can have hot spots in the milk that can burn baby. Even if you are always careful to mix it thoroughly, there could be *one* day when baby is crying and you are stressed...
2. Even if you *do* mix well to avoid hot spots, the fact that they overheated in the first place can destroy some vitamins--vitamin C among them. Remixing it afterwards does not magically bring the vitamin C back.
3. Human milk has live cells that provide the baby with immunity. Many of these are killed by microwaving.
Obviously, the last one is only applicable to human milk. Formula is a dead food. But the first 2 apply to heating anything you will be giving to baby.

No, you should NEVER warm expressed milk (or formula) in a microwave. It reduces the immunological value of human milk and can cause hot spots.
To warm milk SAFELY, put the container into a small jug of hot water and gently swirl. Sprinkle a few drops on your wrist - it should feel about the same temperature as your skin,

The microwave suposedly kills the immunological components.
heat under cool then warm running water. If running water is not available, a pan of water can be heated on the stove. The container of milk can be placed in the warm water once it has been removed from the heat source. Milk can also be defrosted in the refrigerator overnight.

Due to the unique fatty acids found in breast milk it is not safe to microwave breast milk. Even if you shake the bottle after warming it...there can be heat unevenly distributed which can cause your baby to burn her mouth. They have special bottle warmers. You can also decrease the vitamin content.

No! It can cause hot spots and burn your baby's mouth - and using a microwave can also destroy some of your breastmilk's enzymes...
Heat a mug of water for 2 minutes in the microwave instead and immerse the baby bottle in it for 5-7 minutes - this is the best and quickest way!

NO.
Warming breastmilk in the microwave can damage some of the good properties of the milk.
It can also cause "hot spots" in the milk that could scald your baby.

Sure it is! Just don't put the bottle in the micro with the nipple on .. and warm it for just a few seconds .. I did it with breast milk and formula for all 3 of my kids and they are perfect : )

Just be careful not to get it too hot. The enzymes break down during the heating process, thats the only thing that is effected.
