So long as anyone wants to initiate force against another for any reason there will not be peace. This includes forcing someone to give up their hard earned money (taxes), forcing someone to not put certain things in their bodies (drug laws), forcing someone to live by the ways of your religion, etc.

You aren't specific about the type of peace you are referring to, so you may have meant either or both: world peace, or inner peace ...

From some of your other questions, I seem to gather that you're depressed. I certainly know about those feelings.
What helped me most was learning that there is a plan that is something to really look forward to! I sincerely hope that you too will ...

It would depend on how you define peace. If you define peace as the end of war since some would consider war to be the opposite of peace than I like to think that a qoute from Plato sums it up. He said "only the dead have seen the end of war."
However I think peace does exist and while I cant explain it logically due to my scholarly shortcomings I can tell you how to experience it for yourself. Simply summit a mountain by yourself and sit on or near the summit watching a sunset. Every time I go backpacking especially when I go by myself (something not considered safe so I am not reccomending it without knowing you better) I find some measure of peace albeit short lived.

We live in a world filled with chaos. What we take as moments of peace are actually moments in transition from one chaotic event that leads into another moment of greater or lesser chaos. In that brief nanosecond, peace and tranquility do exist, but like a drowning swimmer, while he shows his head briefly at the surface gasping for air before going under again, even in that moment it is filled not with peace but is categorically a struggle--a mirror of chaos struggling to find peace but only enters into a recycling of more chaos. Life therefore is the struggle that we willing to accept, and death is the peace we neither accept nor desire.

The human concept of peace is a very subjective and very difficult thing to obtain. My peace is everyone getting along with one another in happy constructive lives. Meanwhile, another person's version of peace might entail a world without bothersome birds ("begone, seagull!).
However, in the objective realm of science, the universe moves towards a state of equilibrium, another kind of "peace." Learn more about entropy with linked source below.

I believe that peace comes from God. Some people can feel peaceful on their own but I'm not one of those people. With God's grace and help I find moments of peace in my life. We live in a sinful and inperfect world therefore perfect peace and happness is not possiable without his help. (Wow, I sound a bit fruity even to myself but I do believe what I wrote)

Peace is something each of us has to find within ourselves. Usually it is the churning and unrest within ourselves that makes us cry out for peace in other places in the world. We cannot create peace in the 'outside' world until we find peace in our inner world.

No. Out of good comes bad and out of bad comes god. Not to sound geeky but thats what the whole stars wars movies were based out. There has to be a balance, ying and yang. One can never overpower the other.

is there such a thing as peace?
yes - how much do you want it? - if you could bring world peace by giving a day of your life, would you give a whole day of your life if you knew it would definitely bring peace? - probably yes - would you give a month? - remember, this is definitely going to bring peace, if you give a month - probably yes - how much time of your life would you give if there was a 1 in a 100 chance of getting world peace? - if there was a 1 in a 1000 chance of getting world peace, would you give 100% of your disposable income? 10%? 1%? 0.01? - how much is world peace worth to you? - how much difference would it make to you? - how much would world peace increase your happiness? - you would have zero chance of getting caught up in or killed in a war or terrorism - but there is only a small chance of that now - there wouldnt be so much news of violence and trouble in the world - but how much of your happiness does that destroy? - a lot or a little? - there would be zero chance of seeing ww3 and the atomic annihilation of all planet life - the chances of ww3 and extinction of the planet in the next 50 years are quite high: war and weaponry have been escalating for 1000s of years, humans have not correctly identified the cause in all that time, although it is pretty obvious, and we have already escalated to the point of having 60 times enough power in our bombs to kill everything alive [by putting up so much smoke, above rain-wash-out level, that the sun is blocked out permanently and the world temperature drops three times further than an ice age] - and maybe we all do reincarnate over and over and we are going to have to come back over and over forever in the perpetual global snowstorm - that being possible, avoiding it would be worth some time and energy - [how much?] -
war is popping up everywhere sooner or later - nowhere on earth is guaranteed to remain warfree - it would be nice to be free to go anywhere in the world with much less danger of thieves and death and firing squad for noncombatant tourists
there is a way to have world peace - it costs about 1-2 hours a day for up to a year - it will definitely bring peace - everyone already agrees that it will work and that it will make everyone much much happier - it gives 99% of people more income, so they should be keen - it gives everyone US$15 an hour, including housewives and tertiary students - it pays the family working average hard US$75,000 a year - it destroys tyranny and wage-slavery forever - it establishes democracy, sustainable and just capitalism, human rights, kills ww3 and extinction, and makes the whole world much friendlier - and everyone in the world already agrees it will do these things - and this large claim can be proven in a minute - it has the backing of every wise person in history, and everything that has happened in history shouts its truth - well, lots of things in history shout its truth, and nothing in history says otherwise
the cost is terrible: you have to get the thinking-engine turning over, up and running sweetly, and firing on all cylinders - terrible cost - and you have to help two people do the same - you have to subject all your instinctive attitudes and accepted ideas to critical examination by your good sense - because obviously some too-readily-believed idea is the cause of war - everything in culture is ideas - the car is ideas - everything we do and say has roots in ideas - we live our ideas, our notions, our unexamined opinions - and some of these are causing war - everyone is so sure they are right! - christians are sure they understand christianity - but obviously we are wrong somewhere, because we have war and other violence, which we dont like [everyone hugs everyone on the street when the war is over, veterans dont want to talk about the war] - [simple-minded people who can convince themselves that they are perfectly good and the enemy is perfectly evil, although people are much the same everywhere, enjoy war until they are blinded or crippled]
wealth has piled up in the hands of the few to an incredible extent: 1% get 90% of world income - US$70 TRILLION [000,000,000,000] a year - they do less than 1% of the work - [because the super overpaid dont HAVE to work] - pay is from 1000th to a million times average - $1 to $1 billion a fortnight
this can be fixed by limiting fortunes to the just maximum [US$2 million] [ie, stopping people taking out more than they put in by work] and spreading the overfortunes equally, fully, directly, electronically, into every bank account on earth [one account per person, everyone to open accounts]
since a huge majority [99%] gain financially, and absolutely everyone gains enormously in what counts, happiness [nonextinction, greatly increased safety, pleasure, peace, friendliness, greatly reduced problems, danger, griefs, stresses, troubles and crises], it should not be difficult to convince everyone, or at least a 99+% majority, after which it is easy to get the laws passed
oh, and if everyone who hears of it tells it properly to just two people, so that they too understand the essential importance of passing it on to two, every adult in the world will hear of it in just 31 times the time to tell two people [and word of mouth is safest from ptb [powers that be] sabotage]
proof that everyone already agrees: if a govt took [stole] 90% of income permanently off 90% of people, everyone will have no trouble guessing what would happen, and what would happen if the govt stopped doing that - therefore everyone knows 1. that injustice [theft of earnings] is the cause of war and other violence 2. that [only] stopping the theft will stop the violence
[in all places on earth where there are religious or racial differences without economic injustice, there is no violence, therefore wars are not [contrary to wide opinion] religious or racial]
www.globalhappiness.org [not an org] - 20 years' thought and research - free, no-danger, individualist, no believing, no leader [except you leading yourself], no anything people dont like, no big change to society
pursue your happiness with every nerve, every fibre, every braincell you can reactivate!
