Why do people have to be so nasty to each other?
Especially now, in this era of the information highway, why do people, as a general rule, forget that the people they're talking to on-line aren't just programs, but real people with real opinions and real emotions?
I feel so bad for the little kids who are born into this world. They're being born into a world where everyone is so jaded that we can't even go ten minutes without hearing about how some lady drowned her children in the bath or how some guy is a child molester or whatever.
Just why?
Why is there so much hurt and injustice in this world?
Why does this world have to be so wrong? Why does there have to be so much sadness and anger and everything else?
Why can't we just be gentler to each other?
Why can't people just.. be nice to each other?
Seriously.

I know! When I was younger I used to ask these questions. I used to even reject God because of the things you mention. It all just makes your heart hurt, and your soul scream, doesn't it? All I can say is, be glad you can feel these things, and don't let the world get the best of you. Bad things that happen are not God's will or His doing. The bible says that this world is a place where good and evil coexist. God leaves it up to us to believe in him and be good to one another, having faith even when bad things happen.
Evil will happen in this world, and innocent people will be hurt. Never become desensitized to any of it. It is Satan's work, and it should be seen as appalling. Every one of us has an obligation to rise up against it- and what Satan doesn't want you to know- the power to rebuke him from your life, and the lives of those you love. Hope this helps. If not, look at the beauty in the world- the evidence that God exists and loves you. And keep being nice to people.

These are excellent questions, and I share your concerns about the state of common courtesy in today's society, especially on the Internet. Unfortunately, there aren't any easy solutions.
I try to remember that I can't make others be what I want them to be, but I am certainly responsible for my own behavior. I concentrate on treating others with the respect and kindness I enjoy receiving and hope that others will see the wisdom in this and follow suit.

It seems that each generation is worse than the last. I fear for the next two or three coming up because I for one don't see any sign of improvement. My only blessing is that I'll be gone by then. Who knows maybe a miracle may happen to prove me wrong.

Maybe the world has always been this way but in this information highway era it's easier to hear about every despicable act. I don't know. My dad always says it's something in the water.

In the U.S., anyway, these are the results of teaching people that they are not responsible for their actions. The government and our courts have spent decades making excuses for people. And now we truly believe that we're not responsible for our actions, that nothing matters.
The other part of this is the selfishness being taught. People believe that nobody else matters but them. This has become an amazingly rude country in most parts of it.

Because life isn't fair. Learn about others and have respect for them. Do as much as you can to make the world a better place for humanity and for our descendants, and you'll find your reward here on earth as well as in the world to come.
