Most states recognized the separation between child support payments and visitation. If you're being kept from your child, it's probably against the law, and you have the right to see that child when the court stipulated that in the agreement.

Let Child Support know, ALL THE TIME, the status of your employment, working or not, etc. This shows you to be responsible, and they'll work with you a lot faster. Don't shirk your responsibility to the child....they need your support as much as they need their custodial parent's. Show you care, show your love....and it will help quite a bit!

But again, if you're not given your basic rights of visitation, you can go to court, ask for a court appointed attorney who will represent you and get those rights back. Sometimes, all the custodial parent needs is a letter from a lawyer stating that if visitation isn't restored, they can be held in contempt of court, and ultimately go to jail. Not something most mothers would want to do!

You have a right to access to your child regardless of your ability to pay child support. If you can't afford the child support you were paying, you can get it reduced by having a new hearing based on your current income.

Both issues (visitation and support) can be dealt with through the court system.
