I had heard this: if you begin taking a good multi-vitamin/mineral table each morning, for about a month or so, your body will begin to realize it needs to sleep.. always set a time for yourself to be in bed.. no tv, but perhaps soft background music.. always wake at the same time.. eat proper meals, especially breakfast, and add a few sensible snacks, with one just before bed.
It takes times, but it does work..
Be sure to get some form of exercise, like walking. Some forms of exercise in the evenings will only hep keep you awake.. be careful.. and good luck.
I too suffer from insomnia, now and then, when I put daily life ahead of my own life.

Some things that have helped me a lot with insomnia:

Making sure to get enough protein each day (half your weight in grams of protein per day)

Taking 2 T flax oil per day.

Making sure to eat at regular times to keep my blood sugar balanced (I try not to go more than 5 hours between meals).

Good luck.

Valerian Root, Chamomile, Lavander. There's also a natural remedy called "Sleep Rescue". You can get it at the Vitamin Shoppe. You spray it twice on your tongue before you go to bed. Its a non-narcotic and made with all natural flowering herbs.

The supplements melatonin and/or valerian (herb) work terrific. These are not drugs. If you can't sleep, get up and do something til you're tired enough to go to sleep. Also, a regular exercise routine done often really works wonders to improve your sleep.
