Well I read that on halloween if you look into a mirror with a black candle at midnight (or anytime) you will see the devil. It is also said that you can reverse the bad luck of breaking the mirror if you leave the broken glass on the ground and when the clock strikes midnight you pick up the broken glass and throw it away. It is also said that you can use mirrors for divination (seeing the future). Techniques for divining the future: Take a glass mirror to a lake, pond, or stream. Ask a question that can be answered yes or no. Dip the mirror completely into the water three times, retrieving it each time. As you bring it up the last time, look into its mirrored surface. If your reflection is clear the answer is yes. If it's distorted, the answer is no (you can do this divination in a bathtub or something with water in it). To know if an expected event will occur, use a greased pencil to write the question on a small mirror. Wrap this in several layers of cloth, place it beneath your pillow. If you dream of the hope-for event, it will occur. If not, it probably wont. ~Well hope that answers your question, have fun.

Reflective magic has been around since humans could see their own relection.
Scrying mirrors are used to induce visions, and answer questions. You can use one at home. make sure the room your in is as dark as possible. Some people like to place a small votive candle behind the mirror in a pitch black room. If you have a specific intention, chant it in your mind, or whisper it out loud over and over until you're mind is completely focused on nothing else. The way to use a the mirror is to not look at, but through the surface of it. Gaze into it's blackness. Images, colors will soon begin to appear. If this method dosen't feel right for you, I suggest skipping the candle and using a dark cloth to make a kind of tent covering yourself and the mirror.
Some people may experience difficulty getting results at first. It can take some people weeks to get results from scrying, so you may have to practice this a number of times. Be patient with yourself, make sure you are grounded and completely focused. Also, don't just hope for visions to appear, expect them. Enjoy your journeys in this fascinating form of divination :)

It is believed that if you turn your back on a mirror, Satan and his minions will grab you and take you to hell through the mirror. There is another superstition that if someone dies in your house and you look in the mirror on the same day, the deceased person's spirit will possess(sp.) you. And of course the 7 years bad luck thing.

There's also the superstition about bloody marry, which is that if you stand in front of a mirror, turn around three times and say bloody mary three times, you'll see her. It's mostly for kids.

In some cultures, when there is a death in the household, all the mirrors are covered. I guess you don't want to confuse the poor ghost.
