It all depends on what state you live in. For example in my home state of Michigan, it usually takes two weeks from the time you get either laid off or terminated to receive your first check, but they have to determine whether you have a claim or not, whether you've worked at your place of employment long enough to have a claim, whether you were fired or you quit, etc. If you meet all those guidelines then they will issue you a monetary determination.
