Be Yourself.
Otherwise, you may get the job offer but will either find yourself in a position where you cannot adequately perform the tasks given to you, or in a job which you do not enjoy. Neither will last long, and the salary will have to be huge in order to compensate for having to start job hunting again too soon.
While you should be yourself, there is no problem with trying to change yourself to make yourself more employable. This is not to be interpreted as 'change your beliefs' or 'be someone else' but if you can develop your own character in order to ensure you are more likely to get a certain position.
If you show the interviewer the skills you do have, and can convince them that you are willing and able to learn any skills that will be required in addition, they may be willing to invest in you as a member of staff. Most companies are not really after specific qualifications (outsite technical and professional areas, such as engineering, law and medicine) but are looking for bright, enthusiastic and attentive staff.
Also, most personnel departments have experienced interviewers, and they are able to see through 'exaggerations'.
In essence, look at it from the long-term point of view. If you 'lie' you will be wasting everyone's time, including your own.
Best of luck to you"

Be yourself but if you can read into the position the company is hiring for, you can practice what you need to say to get the job. Ask questions, act interested and smile a lot! Good Luck!

the problem is if you act how they want you to then what are you gonna do if you get the job - are you gonna carry on like that or disappoint them and be yourself? It isn't right to have to pretend all the time to be something you're not - it will also wear away at your self esteem.Be you and find an employer who respects you for who you are

peolpe only get a tiny glimpse of you during an interview so just being yourself doesn't cut it.................best advice i can think of is......be friendly,,,,,,,,be interested (but not so much it looks false).........speak clearly and try not to waffle to much.....learn about the company you are applying to, "what do you know about us" is often an early question. Read their advert and 'slip in' any keywords they've put in such as 'attention to detail'. many managers nowadays have attended interview courses and you can take advantage of their new found ignorance.

I find that the best jobs always result from being myself in the interview.... an employer can read you and work with you better if he better understands you. The better the employer-employee relationship, usually the better the job is.

Depends, for a job that there aren't that many applicants, be yourself. It is my experience that when they have a lot of interviewess, they choose the one who's what they want him to be.

Be yourself of course. If you try to be the person they want you to be then that will be the person you have to portray the entire time you are employed and they may never get the chance to know the real you.
