Boyfriend and I broke up we lived together with my 6 yera old son, but we broke up last week while my son was visiting his father for the week. How should I explain that my boyfriend and I are no longer together and we had to move out of our apartment. He comes home today, but we will be living with my parents for a few months.

Never lie to your children. That is a lot for your son to digest all at once. It's amazing how much of life can change in an instant. You may want your parents to help you explain why things have changed so drastically in one week. The most important thing is to let him know how loved he is and the most important thing for all the adults in his world is his safety and health and well being.
I don't know how close he was to your former boyfriend but if you and the ex fought a lot your son probably will be grateful that the fighting has stopped and that his world finally has a moment of stability at your parents house. If you notice in the weeks to come that his behavior has changed as a result of the big change I would get professional help for yourself first in parenting to make sure that how you handle this is going to work.

Well the good thing is he's only six, the best thing is you could tell him that your going to live with Grandma and Grandpa for a little while till you can find a place for the two of you, that you and your ex won't be seeing each other any more... that sometimes two people aren't meant to be together and that you want to be happy and that means being on your own, good luck and I wish you and your son the best...

Just say you arent getting along with each other and that he is still very loved.
