Puzzled? I'm not sure that really reflects it.
The problem is if Italians had a phrase like 'Bada-Bing!' and usage of this phrase was frown upon as inappropriate, slang, or down right being ignorant; Italians would do a double take with slack jaws when they hear wide-spread use ala John Madden and Bryant Gumble use it on national t.v. and all of a sudden the word is magically an accepted part of the english language.
Ain't
bling-bling
Dawg, Durty, Shorty, Boo, Peoples (refering to a person)
True (responce of acceptance or agreeance)
are all terms that sprung up in the ghetto and was labled from slang all the way to ignorant... but more and more of them are seeing mainstream acceptance and that's good and a little surprising to some blacks.

I doubt that they are puzzled. If you really listen to some africam american phrases they make many so called white phrases seem tame by comparison. I think many african american or white american phrases are very neat and really descriptive as long as they don't put people down and are'nt racist.

What's all this nonsense about white and black talk?
English is english. Spanish is spanish, French is french ect. ect. A catchy phrase is a catchy phrase. It shouldn't matter what color the person was that came up with it! The racism card has just got to stop somewhere. Let each of us decide it will stop with ourselves.

I am in the process of becoming american and I just feel that it should not matter. Although it is a little head turning at first but hey if you identify with that go ahead. Race should not matter when it comes to language.

No, sometimes I think it’s funny. Most of the time it’s about trying to weigh whether or not it was meant offensively. Either way, I could give a hoot. But I don’t advise a white guy to walk up to a 6’4 380 lbs. black guy and say, “Waz up my *****?”

Yeah, i think its funny though. I'm black and i have a white friend who tries to say the phrases me and my friends say and it ends up comeing out so country sounding its really funny. Like when we say "holla!!!" she says "hollar", and sometimes my friend who's also black gets mad because she takes our phrases and makes them sound stupid, but I don't care its funny to me.

I think they feel that Whites are trying to be as cool as blacks, and they are not succeeding, so they get a good laugh from it.
