While typing this question the first time the power went out in a little rain storm. Can New Orleans survive another catastrophic event?

No, we cannot. The power in my area (Espanade Ridge) goes out during most thunderstorms. In reality, it did that BEFORE Katrina, so I'm used to it. I keep flashlights and candles handy, and I saved a couple of cases of M.R.E.'s, just in case.

I say on thing and i dont mean it in a wrong way but why rebuild new orleans in the same place? why not make it more up on the map or not build it at all! My guess is that a Hurracaine will hit again in less than 5 years so why not make it a fishing bay?

I hope they never rebuild New Orleans. It was a very bad place to build a city in the first place and if they rebuild it the same destruction will happen again sooner or later.

It still hasn't recovered from the last time.
If it were to happen again this summer, I seriously doubt I'd go back there, if it were my home.
Like others have said, it'll happen again, just a matter of time.
(I'd hate to know what the going rate for flood ins. is going to be there)

New Orleans was STUPID enough to re-elect Ray Nagin.

They deserve whatever they get as far as I'm concerned.

I doubt it but I never thought it would have come as far as it has after the first one. I hope we never have to find out.

Who cares, alot of those people that relocated in surrounding states have boosted the crime rate considerably.
