I have opened my eyes under water when i was younger to play a game where we would throw stuff in the pool and wait for it to sink (quarters, dimes, pennies, nickels) and then open my eyes under water to find them, but never in a lake or ocean. In chlorine water they do get irritated and burn.. But i was always tooooooo scared to open my eyes in lakes and oceans.

No, it does not burn. But your vision will still be blurry, and you cannot see much, even in the clearest of water. Get some swim goggles and enjoy the underwater view.

Yes. It's actually healthier than opening them underwater in pools, because there is no chlorine. Don't do it in the ocean. It's probably best to wear goggles, just make sure they are TIGHT!

that is tricky to tell without understanding the lake. yet, usually, if the wellness government have not closed the lake, that is in all probability secure to think of that the lake is okay for swimming in. And if that is clean sufficient to swim in, that is clean sufficient to open your eyes. under water.
