Why did we put the word "pus sy" in front of "cat"?

But it is NOT just slang, folks. Pus sy Cat is an accepted term for a house cat.

WHY?

when you try to get a cat's attention, what do you say? psss psss psss, right? so "pssss" "pssss" cat is the natural result of making that noise and adding "cat" to it
