Is the American government actually charging to evacuate American citizens from Lebenon? I swear that's what the reporter on the news just said,That can't be right?

WOW, you heard right. The 25,000 Americans will pay commercial rates (for evacuation by ship or by plane) to Cyprus. If they don't have the cash, they must sign a promissory note to pay when they can. This is fair since these Americans were living in Lebanon by choice.
However, our govt can't do jack-sh_t when it comes to saving our people (as in Katrina). Our soldiers, warships and planes are THERE in the middle east. The French and the Brits have already begun to evacuate their citizens TODAY while Americans are told to assess their current safety situation. What the HELL does that mean? Of course, Bush's govt says that it's logistically complex to evacuate 25K people. If it was worth favorable international P.R., like during the 2004 tsunami, our warships arrived in Asia the next day!

I don't know if you heard that right or not, but why should I pay becuase somebody else wants to go to Lebanon?

I guess they better, before our dear allies in Israel blow them to bits. Collateral damage, I believe its called. Even when it happens to Americans!
