The common thing to stop a war? Win. The war stops immediately thereafter. Or surrender, if you are on the other side of the equation.

I have news for you...there are no "one or two things" that will stop war. The world has been at war in one form or another since the human race has populated it. The current middle east situation with Israel and Lebanon is a prime example...that part of the world has been at war with one another in one form or another for 2000+ years. The human race is warlike in nature in that there are always going to be those people who covet what their neighbor possesses and will fight to take it. We aren't going to magically wave a wand and solve the world's problems overnight.

The only way to minimize (you note I said "minimize", not "stop") warlike behavior is to promote and encourage governmental systems that are free from tyranny and promote freedom and self-rule. As you can see from the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan, eventually conflicts can be minimized, but never totally eliminated, because there will always be those non-conformists out there who will always want what the other guy has, or want to destroy what the other guy has. We can't help ourselves; as a race, no matter what we have, we desire more than what we currently have.

That's why I am amused by liberals who desire "world equality", because it will never happen. We don't want to be equal to the next guy; we want to be BETTER....richer, stronger, more successful, more powerful...and we want our God to be proven better than the other guy's God...that's why some people are willing to blow themselves and others away to do just that.

It's not the answer you want, but it's the right one.

1-Fighting people's greed for land (like the Israelis) or resources.
2-Teaching the young generations how to be tolerant and open-minded.
3-The US and the other G8 countries stop selling weapons to underdeveloped countries likely to get engaged in wars.
4-Returning any land somebody had forcefully taken from someone else (especially all the land occupied by the Israelis whether in Palestine, Syria or Lebanon).
5-Providing true financial and non-financial incentives to urge people stop the war.

have the instigators of the fight be the only ones allowed to fight--no drafts, no enlisting, no " forced volunteering" --let the country big wigs set up a forum similar to "Celebrity Death Match" and who ever is left standing gets shot in the head--that would take away any ideas of country thinking they are superior and leave everyone on equal ground,

Be humble enough to pray about situations to see things from more than one point of view. Do not start a war based on someone who has been dead for hundreds of years. Keep a strong defense.

Wars are a punishment from God on nations as well as individuals as a result of the national misconduct, waywardness, and evil. Look at the book of James. You're really not gonna like that! ( Chapter four. )

Men, who start wars, should stop and think of the children which, for some reason, they never do.

Everyone can demand more from their governments.
Everyone can be less lazy, less talk and more action.
Everyone can accept one another, not like, accept....there's a difference.
Everyone can use their voice and encourage others to use theirs.
Everyone. Everyone. Everyone. Everyone. Everyone.

What are YOU waiting for?
