The "hard questions", as they are so called, generally require more than a simple, superficial methodology that would allow them to be quickly dismissed as solved. In a culture where consumerism is fast, gratification is instant, and everything is packed with no-calorie sweeteners, the idea of taking time to consider something that actually could challenge the mind of those who prefer things to be as self-involved and easy as they can possibly be. To challenge a world view, for instance, would lead to the need for change, and this is generally feared by those who lack the foresight to perceive how that might well be a positive thing in the end... And on the reverse side, exploring something can also reinforce your belief in what you already thought, rather than simply leaving it an assumed truth.
Why don't I ask the hard questions personally? I'm lazy.
