They aren't completely colorblind. They see colors like we would at dusk. Not much but a little. That may be why the toys are so brightly colored.

Well 1) the color helps show what the thing is supposed to be. Ex. The Mailmen or Dog Catcher. With out color it is just dull. I Truthfully do not believe Dogs/cats/bulls ETC. Are Color Blind because Bulls are vicious around red and my friends dog HATES black people(NO OFFENSE) and Some Cats Are Vicious Around Certain Colors.

Have you ever seen a black&white photo? You can't really see the colors, but you can tell the difference. I guess it's the same with dogs and cats. Even though they're colorblind, they can probably see shades.

who says you may want to spend any money to make a cat toy? I surely have had cats for a v lengthy time period - all of them loved those undemanding abode-made toys cardboard field - any length from coach field up - even if that is excellent then shrink paw sized holes in it (one hollow in accordance to area) - cats many times can not arise to investigating a field, or suitcase, or perhaps paying for bag! feathers or nylon cable ties (the longer the further proper) - acceptable for poking into holes in packing boxes, or through banisters on stairs & landings string - organic fibre favored, yet man made will many times be ok - in case you'll stumble on a skinny stick (bamboo is tremendous) and tie the string firmly to at least one end, that makes an fantastic interactive toy - you carry the stick and make the top of the string act as "prey" drawing it for the length of their line of web site, round them & over their heads - once you've a gaarden with backyard, then bypass for a three foot cane with 6 foot of string (tie a feather on the top now and again for form)

Pet toys are for PEOPLE, not animals.
Dogs will fetch a stick.
Cats will play with yarn.
They don't need expensive toys to entertain them, just attention.
Same for kids, actually.
But where there's profit to be made and a sucker to exploit, hullo, capitalism!

CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU’VE HEARD, YOUR DOG AND CAT DO SEE COLOR. THEY CAN SEE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BLUES AND REDS, YELLOW AND GREENS. BUT THEY HAVE TROUBLE WITH PURPLE AND BROWN AND LIGHT REDS AND GREYS . . MUCH LIKE A COLOR-BLIND PERSON.

So the answer is they make the toys coloured for the cats and dogs and to make them appealing to the owner as well.

People wouldn't choose a drab toy to buy. It's for the People that will buy the toy not the animal itself!

cats and dogs can see color, just not the way we do. it's more muted and their spectrum is far smaller than our own. they can see shades at least. plus, who would want a bunch of brown or black toys laying around their floor?

Because it's people who pick them off the store shelves & pay for them, not the pets.
