If you use iTunes, they have a free download of the week. To buy other music from them you must either use your credit card or purchase gift cards at a store such as Target.
You can also use subscription services such as Napster.
Or, in Windows Media Player 11 you can register for an account with them and you can get a couple free downloads through Microsoft/MTV music service called URGE.

Just download your songs from LimeWire. Who cares if it's illegal? You won't get caught. What are the odds that out of the 60 million people that use P2P clients, you will be the one to get caught? Or is it that it upsets you that you're stealing celebritys' money? I don't think it will hurt them much if they want to buy a 5 million dollar house but can only afford a 4 million dollar house. By the way I hope you're getting an iPod, they're the best and whoever says they're overrated is wrong and has probably never used one, had trouble with one, or have another MP3 player and are jealous that they don't have one.

MP3 Downloading from a P2P source can be against federal law. I would suggest buying a subscription to a Legal Music Store ie: Napster/ and buying a compatible device.
