I'm not ashamed to admit I've never done drugs in my life, or even seen them (except I smelled pot at a concert once), however I am curious to know what happens (without actually trying them of course). Does anyone have any stories? My mom said she had a friend in high school who did acid and he said he could hear the walls breathing. *eek*

Don't worry...I have no desire to do drugs. I get high off of watching cartoons and sniffing lilacs, cloved apples, sunscreen, and chlorine-instant euphoria.

I knew some guys who did it during a thunderstorm in high school and they thought the lightning was coming after them.

Not something that sounds appealing to me in the least.

I knew some girls that claimed that they used to do that stuff, they said that colors and all other senses became very intense. And they were cut off from reality. They started hallucinating and seeing little cartoon characters, like Smurfs. Sometimes they had "bad trips" where they would get really paranoid about anything. Again, these are the things they said. I've read up on the affects of LSD(acid) and their symtoms seemed to mach the description. And the high could last for up to 12 hours. Some people commited suicide because of bad trips or feelings of elation, you know, like thinking they could fly. This is why acid lost its popularity, it is a very uncool drug.

I, also, was a noob to the whole "drug scene", until someone handed me a blotter of acid, (a small piece of inch by inch paper with three drops of acid upon it, this particular one emblazoned with a picture of Felix the Cat)., at a show about a decade ago. I, having never seen acid before, didn't believe the guy and told him he was nuts ... so, he gave it to me for free. I then placed it on my tongue, and about an hour later, I $hit you not, I was tripping, hardcore. People's words came out of their mouths like inkblots, I looked into a mirror and my skin turned metallic, and every time I waved my arms or hand in front of my face, I saw "trails", (repeated images of my arm ghosted out and following every movement). I, on that day, understood why the colors were so messed up looking on the cover of Led Zepplin's House of the Holy .. (The field I was walking through at dawn was purple) ... I talked to a trashbag for an hour ... his name was Jake ... I bought a piece of tatoo gum from a convenience store, and I got a tattoo of a rabbit, licked it onto my skin, and he was dubbed, officially, "The Trips Rabbit". I felt like I was standing on nothing, and then discovered jumping into the air lasted forever ... it was marvelous ... until the next day ...
It was about 112 degrees, and I was so dehydrated I couldn't think straight. My body wouldn't allow me to move more than a few feet at a time, and I was shaky. That was the first, and last, time I ever used drugs. For about 3 years AFTER that day, some nights when I was really worn out, I could still see those trails .... scary.
If I had the choice, knowing what I know now about drugs, to go back and make the same decision I did then about dropping acid, I wouldn't do it. I am not one to say, "Say No to Drugs" or anything, but really think about what can happen to you not just physically, but mentally also, and the repercussions that may follow.

Acid will make you think about a lot of things and feel like you can understand things more clearly than usual. Sometimes you hallucinate, sometimes you just feel really, really good. You spend a lot of time laughing, talking and exploring things, but occaisionally you won't have a good time and that sucks. That's the nature of acid, though, it really depends on how you feel before you take it and also how you feel about the setting you are taking it in. I've also known a lot of people who claim their "real" selves come out on acid, including a girl I knew in high school who would spend her entire trip talking like a British boy. She was weird, but funny. I met a friend that I still have today seven years ago while tripping. We were sitting on the sidewalk watching some of our friends running through the yard laughing, and were debating about whether some nearby bushes were coming towards us or not. She turned to me and asked me if I wanted to be her best friend, and we were inseparable for a couple of years after that. It was a neat way to start a friendship. I've never known anyone who has "DIED!!!!!!" as a result of acid, but I'm sure it's happened.
You can also do some pretty embarrassing stuff, though, so it's definitely a social drug that you'd want to do with others in the privacy of your home, because you will look a little crazy to the outside world. The trip lasts about 8 hours, and will take about 20-40 minutes to kick in, so one should plan for the entire day/night.

If you were ever to consider hallucinogenic drugs, I'd recommend psychodelic mushrooms to start off with. Very low key, the trip will only last like 4-6 hours. I've had the best time with them, laughing with my friends, thinking I've finally figured "it" out, watching lights pulse and pictures move. Very fun stuff.

Physical effects of LSD: You put the LSD in your mouth, which your saliva takes it into your bloodstream. Blood moves it to your brain, where it makes the nerve endings misfire. Some of your brain fluid leaks into your spinal column. Your body goes into a psuedo-death, and your "trip" is your body's fight to survive. Your brain heats up 2 to 5 degrees for an extended period of time- "the trip", giving you hallucinations that people are in the other room talking, that the walls are breathing, that ants are marching everywhere. Your eyes get "foggy." You may sweat alot, or pee alot, or get the runs. You start to wonder if you will ever be normal again.

This is where one of two things happen. You either assure yourself that the drug has made you high, and if you wait, you will be normal. Or you assume you will never be normal again, and have a "freak out." This is where you hear of people getting stuck on their acid trips.

Eventually you come down, but you never return to where you were before. You will forever be changed, sometimes for the worse.

It is not a drug, but an experience. An intense, reality-altering experience. And your reality will NEVER come back the way it was before.

I use to do drugs. This is how I would describe acid. You can hear colors and see sound. I know it sounds weird, but it's true. I knew a girl who was jumping on a trampoline while she was high and she landed on it wrong and broke her foot. She said she saw her foot running away from her. She ran out in the street to try to catch it and almost got hit with out even realizing it. She was freaking out and crying because she thought she lost her foot.

The reason why you hallucinate is because the drugs are killing your brain. Your brain is so close to dying that it makes you see stuff you normally shouldn't. It is a really dangerous thing to do. Don't get started into that sort of thing.
A good movie to watch about that sort of thing is "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". But if I can give any advice, it is really dangerous and is NOT worth getting into. I did drugs and stuff for a really long time and it really MESSED me up. Even doing weed can really mess you up. I went through drug rehab for over a year and I still have a hard time with it.

Well, acid is different from other drugs. You don't hallucinate on all drugs, but you definitely do on acid. I was sitting around once and the wallpaper was moving. The lamp was talking so I decided to go home from my friends house to mine (an hour away). On the way home, I saw people standing on the side of the road the whole way home, just walking and waving to me. These are country roads and there are never ever people walking there. It was fun.

I have lost friends and family to drug abuse. It's an escape, for people that cannot handle real life.

There is a 58 year old man in my neighborhood that lives with his mother. He became unstable after an lsd trip 35 years ago and has not been normal since. When his elderly mother dies, this man will likely become homeless and wander the streets.

I know some people who did mushrooms once. They decided it would be a good idea to walk to the liquor store (about 2 miles away) and rob it, in a blizzard, with no gun. When they got into the store they paid $20 for 1 gatorade and then saw cops and were convinced the cops knew their plan so they ran and hid, in a blizzard. Just don't do it.

Enough acid use eventually leads to some kind of paranoia that people don't get over. People who use drugs are usually missing something inside themselves, you're better off not trying in my opinion. In my day I did, but I don't recommend them. Like another respondent said, not knowing is not something you need to be embarrassed about.
