We would have people like Mike Vick, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Ladanian Tomlinson. Had these people decided to play soccer instead the U.S. would dominate. We all know our best athletes don't play soccer.

The reason is simple - There is not enough interest in the U.S. to make soccer a paying proposition. As an example, I, and most Americans, find soccer to be extremely boring.

The one, and only, reason soccer is popular in the rest of the world, is that it is inexpensive to play. It requires nothing but a ball, and even that can be nearly anything - a can, a head of cabbage, or even just a head. It is the sport of choice for poor people, and Americans can afford to play better games.

The Dominican Republic is a dirt poor nation and the worlds best baseball players come from there.

The US out of arrogance never took it seriously because of our lack of success. The seeds have just been planted over the past 10 years since the World Cup was played in the US. A huge step is if USA Soccer is able to hire Klinsman the former German coach.

when we start seeing kids emulating MLS stars on the street & school playgrounds instead of in the hyper organized suburban games, 10-15 years from then is when the US will have its best athletes playing soccer.

they all do right up until they get past, oh about 12 or so. Soccer is a kids game

I dont know man...tall guys and muscular guys are not the best in soccer its a game of endurance...these guys might not be able to last
