A device that is hooked to the internet and routes the signal from the net to wireless devices in other computers. It simply does away with wires, hence the name. The cost of wiring a house with ethernet wiring all over the place led to it's development.Most also will connect to pc's with ethernet to allow both wired and wireless connections at the same time.

this is a device that will conect to a WAN connection and take the signal and dispurse it wirelessly to many devices through a wireless signal to allow these wireless devices to connect to the network

It basically allows you to connect your high speed internet to more than one computer wirelessly, so you don't have the big jumble of cords all over the place
