A gay person isn't born gay....
when we are toddlers or babies we are born not knowing our sexual preference that choice is made around the ages of 5-8
hence the idea of a person being "born gay" isn't real

It could be that conditioning may have a very small part of a person being gay but it would be a very small percentage of gay people that are effected in this way. However, I do think that the majority of gay people are born with this disposition.

'God' does not make nature perfect. For instance, I am sure that most of you have heard of a condition called hermaphroditism (or the more politically correct term these days is 'intersex') where a person is born with the fully formed genatalia of BOTH sexes. The subject, apart from their genitalia, is physically and mentally sound in every other way.

Sometimes, these children are operated on at birth if the doctors decide (guess) that the baby appears to have a female or male inclination and the genitals are modified accordingly. In many cases though, a modified 'girl' grows up with feelings for other women and modified 'boys' grow up feeling something for other men. It seems in these cases, the doctors have made the wrong decision and the psychological makeup of the child was in fact the opposite to the physical modification they performed on the child. So even though, for instance, a child may be brought up as a girl with girls toys etc, the 'nature' side of the brain kicks in at puberty (if not before) and overrides the 'nurture' side.

Now, if nature can produce a visible, physical example of developmental confusion on the OUTSIDE of the human body, who is to say that there are not processes at work of developmental confusion going on INSIDE the unseen brain of a person ... where there may not be an obvious physical example of gender disorientation externally but internally their brain does not dictate in the way that their external body would suggest to the rest of society.

There is very strong evidence that sexuality is largely determined by development in the womb. Perhaps, while 'intersex' is firm external physical proof of developmental issues, we ought to consider that perhaps the developmental differences in gay people are more subtle and obviously invisible to the naked eye due to the brain being internal - but that does not mean that the differences are not there.

Homosexuality has been around since the beginning of time and if you research gay history in cultures across the world, the present prejudices seem to stem with the spread of the three major monotheistic religons and it is this prejudice that is ingrained into the psyche of people today. But like racism, for instance, perhaps this prejudice towards gay people will diminish as society recognises that alternative sexuality is actually just a normal part of nature's rich diversity.

I can't say for sure, but scientifc data usually does no justice to either side. There are a lot of unknowns about sexuality, and homosexuality is just one of its many paradoxial examples.

If I had to pick one, though, I'd have to say that homosexuality might be a predetermined condition. While I am completely okay with homosexuals, I believe that the condition originates at birth. Being homosexual isn't a natural condition, mostly because it doesn't support the central tie that all species share: procreation. I will, however, provide one hypothesis for counter-support of my observations: Humans have evolved to adapt to many situatuons, and viewing overpopulation as a possible danger, maybe Homosexuality is simply one of the many ways the human species has determined of avoiding its destruction.

In the long run, no one knows for sure, and I don't really think it is an avenue worth pursuing. Some people are gay, and some people are. It is just the way things are and I'd rather choose to rest with accepting it as it is than perhaps upsetting someone in the attempt to look for an answer to your question.

Does it matter either way? I don't think it does.

If someone "chooses" to be gay, then obviously it occurred when they were too young to know what the social norm is and/or the negative consequences of living a gay lifestyle, like rejection, prejudice and bigotry and by the time they figure it out, it's too late, they like what they like.

If they are born that way then there really isn't anything to say about it, they are who they are.

Personally, I believe both theories. Why does it have to be one or the other? why can't there be people that for whatever reason very early in their childhood develop an inclination to be gay, while there are other people that are just born that way because of their biology somehow? I don't think it's so black and white.

I tend towards the belief that gays are born not made and the reason I believe that is because I've seen a family where the wife is actually a lesbian and her children are gay. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Yes, people who are gay marry and have heterosexual relationships for many reasons.

The latest scientific studies are providing increasingly strong evidence that sexual orientation is influenced by conditions in the womb (in other words, "gays are born gay"). See the link (below) to a newspaper article from a recent edition of the Wall Street Journal.

Quote:

"A study released this week tracing some instances of male homosexuality to the "older brother effect" is more than another entrant in the race to find the biological roots of sexual orientation. The mechanism it points to fits with emerging research on the powerful effects of conditions in the womb."

No one is born gay! That's like saying I was born a drunk or a junkie and so on. A person may have leanings toward that lifestyle and eventually act upon it thus becoming gay. Its more preference that anything else.

Oh LORD! It must be a new day because every f*cking day some rube asks this question.

And every f*cking day there is some moron who spouts off some hillbilly wisdom about "how people ain't born gay - they is made that way by the devil".

It's just too rich - I can't handle listening to them every day. Please don't feed them this question then maybe they will actually leave the farm today and go and meet some real people in town - or some city folks! Ewww , scarree.

Would you give matches to a brain damaged retard? (Then you have your answer.)

I think that people are born gay for a lack of better terms.

People who are truely homosexul grow up having those feelings before they even understand them.

I don't think every gay person is that way because the way there were raised or because they were abused, that's bull.. shi%

just my two cents, I know some gay guys and gals and they are perfectly normal aside there alternative lifestyle.
