Because our country was founded by English colonists and along with Canada & Australia, we are probably the best run countries in the world. Without us, the world would be in turmoil.

I never compare Great Britain with the former colonies across the Atlantic - I always contrast it!

Because people from both nations have a tendancy to be stubborn, patriotic and determined. This leads to a clash of heads and lots of arguing over which country is better. Being from Britain, I naturally consider Britain to be better.

Because we are two of the greatest countries in the world and we both speak the same language, but the real reason for comparison is that despite these similarities, there are so many differences.
For instance our politics, the way we act, our countries core values, etc.

I'm from 'Britain' as people on here insist on calling it, and I'm pleased to say there is no comparison.
How can you say their is a shared history? American settlers rejected their past when they went to the new world. Their entire economic, political, judicial and social systems have nothing in common whatsoever.

its not just britain its all countires. people constantly compare our country to other countries and also other countries to other countries. We are in a rat race with all of them

I don;t know. I certainly don't like to do that. There are those who do because they feel they are better than the other and need to somehow "confirm" it although I find that those people usually confirm that they are stupid or something.
