I think they wind each other up because they always assume the question was asked in their locality, an answer accordingly - even when the wording makes it obvious that its not local.

I respect the Americans though. I think they are a far more caring nation than most give them credit for. I just hope next time there is trouble in the world they go to the UN and say 'You know what, this time France can sort it out if that's OK with you' - and walk away laughing up their sleeves.

Having spent 3 weeks going around the states I found all the yanks surprising warm and welcoming. I think Brits have issues with the Iraqi war and George bush more than Americans themselves.

Seriously though; there is a lot of animosity between the two countries, I don't know what you think but we mostly get VERY irritated with you and the way you act.
