You need to figure out what the arguments are really about. Clearly if you're arguing because the broccoli was overcooked or the oil change is overdue, then it's really about something else.
I think that seeing a marriage counselor is right for you. He/she can help you work through what you are really fighting about.

Best thing to do...PICK YOUR BATTLES! Some things are just stupid, petty, meaningless and not worth damaging your relationship over. Others are more important and can be relationship defining. Learn to recognize each topic for what it is and deal with it appropriately. If it is not important, let it go. do not sweat the small stuff. Above all, learn to communicate without the arguing. Pick and choose times that are better for dealing with issues. Heat of the moment...NOT A GOOD TIME. When you are getting along and having relationship conversation anyway, attempt to address the issue in a way that is conversational and general rather than using "YOU" statements. Indirect statements work better than accusations or finger pointing.

if you both are nit picking at little dumb things, then try spending some time apart.....it doesn't mean separation, but hang out with your friends and let your mate do the same, you'll miss eachother too much to be worried about the small things.
