1: YES
2: They were based on an adult doll from Germany who was supposed to be amazingly sexy.
3. Many years ago scientists expanded Barbie's proportions to be human sized and discovered that they were impossible for a human to attain - way out of line.
4: I find them less disturbing in a way than the baby dolls which seem to be for MOMMY in training...

Ok I am a Barbie fan. I feel Barbie has now painted on breast pads and white or pastel undies recently. First created for girls as a fashion doll 3D to paper dolls. You got to be a certain age to play with a Barbie. It is not correct to the human body is the fact that a real woman can not balance in such proportion or walk around minus a few ribs or shorten foot bones in real life.
It is a dream of the idea of beauty or beauty queen. I hear it may be one of the Gabbore Sisters in figure. The idea this is a sex symbol or porn star is in the idea of the person. Barbie holds many degrees and has many careers now since the 50's Her looks have changed since the first Barbie came out you know and revamped over the years to more friends and age less to the always a bride but never married and no children. More over there was birth lessons on one of her friends but little kids choked on the baby that came out. It is a doll. Plain and sure if a boy is doing terrible things with one other than breaking them out of clear jealousy. We have not prim or proper up bringing issues.

The new man in charge of Barbie at Mattel has said that they are going to go back to successful formula of the past. I think that is a good idea. The fact is that I differentiate between reality and fantasy. Look at the living females that little girls see every day? How does their relatives dress? How does their peers dress? How does their favorite stars dress? Are parents stressing that in play that dolls are only fantasy and not real?

Absolutely. You know there are a whole plethora of books and such that deal with Barbie's impact on young girls' sense of self and self-esteem. I believe that Mattel has tried to tone it down some by coming out with more career-oriented Barbies and less slutty and/or beauty queen stuff.

I think people will be against Barbie dolls if she didnt dress with the times.

i totally agree with you.
i was at Toys 'R' Us just yesterday buying a birthday gift for my coach's daughter, she turned 4. ( hadn't been to Toys 'R' Us in like a cagillion years, so i didn't know what kind of new toys they had in store)
and i walked over to the section in the store where they had dolls, and then all of a sudden i see all these Barbies that were dressed like street walkers! and i was like, OMG! how can little girls play with these dolls.
Barbie dolls are WAY too revealing for young girls their age.

A little too anatomical for little girls or boys in the family....a little cousin used to fondle the doll and when asked how or why he was playing with the doll, stated that he saw a guy on TV doing that to a girl....too much role playing from TV example.....some kids do not separate TV roles/actions from reality....

Yes, they are way too advanced for little children, and maybe too tempting for even the older ones. If you think about it, this is an idol, one which is distributed to many stores, mass manufactured but still an idol. Better to not have any Barbies or GI Joes. What do they really teach anyway?

She is a little chesty, but that is nothing new.
I think those nasty ugly Bratz dolls are much worse than Barbie. Talk about messed up body porportions, they have those enormous heads and eyes, and the hoochie-mama makeup and outfits. No thanks. I'd rather have Barbie.
