I bought the Sims 2 for PC today and I put Disk 1 in and the autorun menu didn't come up. So then I clicked start, run, and then typed E:\autorun like it said in the directions. I waited for 4 hours and nothing came up. Then I tried a new approach. I wen't to start, my computer, and then put the disk in. Then I clicked CD-RW Drive E:\ and still after it loaded after a hour there were no files in the drive no automenu came up etc. So then I checked to see if I had the minimum requirenments and the system scan (http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvisor/service/) said I can run the Sims2 PC. My OS is Windows XP

EA says "A supported T&L-capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM"
Not enough video memory. Tested video cards are:
ATI Radeon series:
8500, and All-In-Wonder 8500.
9000, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700, and 9800.
X300, X600, X700, X800, and X850.
NVIDIA Quadro series:
Quadro, Quadro2, and Quadro 4.
NVIDIA GeForce series:
GeForce 2, and 2 GTS.
GeForce 3, and 3 Ti.
GeForce 4, 4 Ti, 4200, 4600, 4800, MX 420, 440, and 460.
GeForce FX 5200, 5500, 5600, 5700, 5800, 5900, and 5950.
GeForce PCX 5300, and 5900.
GeForce 6200, 6600, and 6800.
Sims2 is very graphics-intensive. I use a 256MB ATI card and still experience a little lag. 8MB just doesn't cut it.
32MB is the BARE minimum, but I'd recommend 128MB or better

double click the my comp then open the disc run setup directly from the disc
be sure you have direct x9 also
the other alternative is that you recieved an unwritten disc contact the retaler or manufacturer post haste

When I got that game it came defective and had to take it back! Just take the game back and get a different disk!
