But I always run out a little before the end of the month. I found about 12 cans of Similac Soy at Wal-Mart Marked down cheap( I think they just changed the package) Do you think it is ok to give them this milk?

ALL formula has to be FDA approved. There are very strict rules for formula to be approved. As long as your babies like it, it's ok.

yeah. If they are doing well on that soy formula and you run out you have to do what is most affordable for you. I have 2 sets of twins myself, so I know how expensive it can get. Also are your babies eating baby food yet?? They should be by now. That will help out a lot. My 9 month olds right now only eat about 4 bottles a day and the each get 9 cans from WIC and that is enough for us. If you have to buy the formula. Make sure that they are eating baby food now too. I always had my kids weaned at 12 months also.

As long as your baby can tolerate it there should be no problem..Both formulas are about the same the only difference is the name...The fact that you run out of formula every month is normal...Wic is a supplemental nutritional program which provides vouchers everymonth and helps out with formula, but the program can only give you so much..If you don't have enough formula then you have to purchase it yourself..Now if you were breastfeeding the first time you initially got started on WIC and have stopped breastfeeding then call your local WIC office because they may have you under breastfeeding in the system which means your baby gets less formula..I believe the maximum amount of formula a month is 9 -12.9 oz cans a month depending on which state you live in, but if you have any questions call the WIC clerk in your county..good luck..

Simalac is the best. I used the Isomil advanced soy for my son and he did sooo much better with it than anything else. I had wic too and u get 8 cans of formula I believe. And, it still wasn't enough. I was buying 2-4 extra cans each month. But if your going to switch his milk then keep it the same after you switch it, and you see he has no problems with it. WIC does simalac too.

Don't eat soy. It's dangerous for your health. It's like your are giving birth control to your baby.

The most serious problem with soy formula is the presence of phytoestrogens or isoflavones. While many claims have been made about the health benefits of these estrogen-like compounds, animal studies indicate that they are powerful endocrine disrupters that alter growth patterns and cause sterility. Toxicologists estimate that an infant exclusively fed soy formula receives the estrogenic equivalent of at least five birth control pills per day.

well the first thing you should look at is why is it discounted? is there something wrong with it? A lot of times different brands of formula will be extremely similar in ingredients, but just one little change can affect a sensitive baby tummy. So if you give that to them there is a chance that it will upset their tummies. Or they may taste the difference and not drink it. But honestly I dont think it will do any serious harm if you give it to them, I would say go for it, save yourself a little money.

As long as it isn't expired, it is probably OK. But, on a side note, you should speak to someone if you are running short at the end of the month. Perhaps they can point you towards a more cost effective place to buy formula or help you gain more funds. Good luck!

~~to be sure the milk is not expired, check the can for a date... if you can not locate a date on the can contact the similac company and give them the code on the can and they would be able to tell you if the milk is still good.

if the milk is not expired it should be safe to give it to them.

below i have added links for a forum for parents of twins and a place to get coupons for infant formula... hope these help you as well.~~

It's probably the same thing. Tell your wic person that you run out at your next appointment.
