I had a gap interview many years ago. The first interview is usually a group interview. First, make sure you dress with Gap clothes or at least make sure they look gap like but at the same time make sure these clothes look more on the business side and less on the casual side.
When you get to the interview you will be seated inside of a room with a number of people. It may be a small group or a big group, but don’t let that make you nervous because they are there for the same reason you are to get a job. There maybe one or two people conducting the interview. They may start the interview by explaining a little about the gap's history and what there all about.
They may then ask you to go around and say your name and what position you applied for. After that the interview will begin. They may ask all of you to go around and answer the question or they may ask you to volunteer and answer the questions.
Some questions you may get asked are..............
1) Why did you apply for the gap? Why not Macy's, Blommingdales,Target, H&M, or any other store? This is where your knowledge of the store will come in. Make sure you go on there websites and find out about some positive things about the gap. You can impress them by telling them some great facts you learned about the gap and the benefits employee’s receive. This will say why you want to work for them and that you took the time to do some research.
2) What is your weaknesses?
Never say you don’t have any weaknesses, and never state a negative weaknesses like I am always late, or sometimes I can catch and attitude. Always state a positive weakness like I am a over achiever, I set high goals for myself, or I am a perfectionist. Be prepared to elaborate.
3) What is you idea of good customer service?
You can say making eye contact with the customer, smiling, asking the customer if they need assistance, being attentive to the customer, and greeting the customer.
4) Make sure you have some stories ready about difficult situations with customers and how you resolved the problem in a positive way. Incorporate you past job experiences and how those experiences helped you display good customer service. If you don’t have any stories make one up.!! For example........... A customer came into the store and was very upset because we did not have her size in a pair of jeans. I then phoned a couple of our other store and located the size she wanted. I wrote down the address and phone number of the other location and asked the store to hold the item for the customer. The customer retrieved the item and called our store to say thank you for all of our assistance.......................... See I just made that up. Have a few stories like that ready in you head just in case.
4) Describe yourself in one word?
Make sure it's a good one like responsible, reliable, upbeat, optimistic, hardworking. Not words like happy, funny or things that don’t really directly relate to a job.
5) Finally make sure you try to answer as much questions as you can but don’t talk too much, this can annoy the interviewer. Make it brief and to the point while getting you point across. Make sure you appear confident and speak clearly.
Practice in the mirror, and then do a mock interview with a family of friend to test out you answers. They may not ask you these exact questions but the will ask them in a different way.. For example instead of asking you to describe yourself in one word they may say if I called your last employer what kind of worker would they say you are. It’s the same question, just asked in a different way. Practice, practice, practice.
If you pass they may give you a number for a telephone interview and then a one on one interview. So good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah please click on my icon and let me know how it goes.

One thing is for certain - if they evaluate you on your spelling and/or typing skills you won't do well.
It should read " I have ONE TOMORROW".
The Gap is a fairly upscale company when it comes to retail stores. I would suggest you visit the store today as a shopper and see what types of people work there, how they dress, how they respond to you, and then be honest when you interview. Tell the interviewer what you like about the company and how you can help them reach more people to sell more items.
Sorry to rag on you about spelling, but answers has a spelling checker and you are asking about an interview - be professional if you want that job!
