Who will surpass the power and influence of the USA in a time not so far? Or even, who will match the economical and political influence of the USA and give the now-hegemonic, almighty and even abusing superpower a taste of reality?

I've seen many answers these days in which americans seem to be amazingly sure of their inconditional and everlasting superiority, their impenetrability and security of their homeland. Someone even wrote: "if you make it 4 miles inland I'll eat my hat". Have they already forgotten the fear during the 50's and 60's, when nuclear threat from the Soviet Union was as real as it gets?

Even Rome fell, don't forget that. What's your opinion?

I don't have a "low opinion of the USA", I say what I have seen, and I don't think I'm being partial with my statements. USA is involved in every war going on right now, am I wrong?

By the way, I'd appreciate it if there were no more racist or religios-offensive comments posted. Thanks.

By the end of the 21st century China will most likely be the world's #1 superpower. Their economy is racing, most of the population is content with their life, and their military is the largest in the world (and pretty well equipped despite what some may think)

But as for open war, I HIGHLY doubt that it will ever come to that. Neither side wants open conflict, albeit for different reasons.

China doesn't want a war with the US for two reasons.
#1. The US is the number one consumer of Chinese products. In a war, the US would raise the tariffs of Chinese products so high no one would buy them anymore. And if the US is destroyed, China loses its #1 customer.

#2. Also, if China attacks the US first, then America will be able to plenty of powerful allies such as Britain, Israel, possibly even South Korea.

The US doesn't want a war with China for two reasons:
#1. In the eyes of the rest of the world, America already looks like an idiot for the invasion of Iraq. So if we attack China first, almost NO ONE will support us.

#2. Chances are, we would lose such a war. Some people may say that we have better weapons technology. This is true, but it is not a big enough edge to counter China's numbers.

No one will "overthrow" America. America will self destruct from withing like the British Empire or the Romans, allowing two others to catch up.

EU is a zombie version of European power. lumbering and dead, just unaware it is.

China of Course.

But everyone seems to be forgetting India.

Just as big as China, but a democracy.

Working hard in every industry, but also much more in professions and education than simply industrial concerns.

Fighting Muslim terrorists like nobody outside Israel.

Speaking English better than the typical American. (at least leaders vs leaders!)

Way better at compromise than any similarly powerful country.
Only Pakistan has major conflicts with India and even those are slowly being resolved.

Solid country with a stable world view and non-expansionary, although a source of near limitless immigrants.

your low opinion of the USA says something about you for sure. Time changes all things, and China will certainly be a super power like they never have before. The world is going to hell because of muslims who want the world to bow to mecca. The USA is still the greatest country on the face of the earth. Millions want to get here to live and work - where else you have that? Lining up to get into france maybe?

I'm afraid our downfall will come from within. Those who hate us and have even the slightest amount of common sense can just stand by and watch us make mountains out of molehills over things that aren't even the business of the government. While we are able to stand as a "United" nation for a few weeks when a real tragedy like 9/11 happens it all goes back to ignoring real evil that wants to destroy us. This evil will not come at us in the form of a "country" but as small tactical groups that won't need to be that numerous to drive us back to a lifestyle similar to that of the passengers of the Mayflower back in 1620.

I think Asia overall..
China: I just found out that the U.S has been borrowing money from China? Since when does U.S borrow money! Wow.

India: slowly improving...23 billionares now and also some of the most intelligent people in the world. If this country slowly becomes more developed and can get rid of dirty politics then it can rule one day. People have heart and dedication.

Japan: Small but powerful. Cannot beat them in technology.

N. Korea: U.S better do something now.

This is all in another 25 years..especially INDIA..but it is getting there.

If women ruled the world there wouldn't have to be a "top" country. We'd just do our own thing, produce more chocolate and diamonds than cars, and have slumber parties all of the time.

US will fall but I think it will be b/c of a nuclear attack that the US will not be able to recover from. US is building a lot of enemies.I think the end of days is coming to be honest. Maybe not in my life time but if there is peace in the middle east, you better find God cause it's coming to an end.

the arrogance you refer to is only coming from George W Bush and the fiscal conservatives,,, Liberals know full well that our Nation is under attack, the president squandered all the good will from the world right along beside the deficit,,, carpetbaggers turned war profiteers,,, but they will loose their party,, the GOP will be down and out for a long time to come,, maybe forever,, America is proud, the people are proud, but not nearly as stupid as some would have wished,,,
