Uhh..palestine does exist!!!!!
Palestine, currently under occupation, is located on the East coast of the Miditerannean Sea, West of Jordan and to the south of Lebanon. The territory of Palestine covers around 10,435 square miles (almost same size as the state of Vermont in the USA - that is, pretty small.) [1]
Out of this territory, there are 10,163 square miles of land area. The rest is water: half of the area of the Dead Sea (al-BaHr al-Mayyit), Huleh Lake (BuHayrat al-Huuleh) which was dried by the occupation and Tiberias Lake (BuHayrat Tabariyyah) which is also known as the Sea of Galilee (BaHr al-jaliil).

Two major topics. Land disputes, and oppression of people.

Palestinians are occupied by the Israelis. Israel is refusing to accept UN resolutions to withdraw to the 1967 pre-war borders, and the United States is standing by Israel thanks to the super strong Israeli lobby AIPAC.

So, u have an oppressed Palestinian people subjected to humiliation and oppression; and you have land disputes between Israel and it's 3 neighbors: Syria (Golan Heights), Lebanon (Shebaa Farms), and Palestine (presently occupied by Israel).

Israel has been illegally sending fighter jets over Lebanese and Syrian territory. Imagine Russia sending fighter jets to hover over Washington DC. Israel has willingly broken the cease-fire agreement with Hamas by striking Palestinian civilian targets. Palestinians responded with their own attack. Then Hizbollah attacked Israeli soldiers in the disputed Shebaa Farms, which is controlled by Israel. In retaliation, Israel launched a major offensive targeting civilian targets and Lebanese infrastructures, which are against the 4th article of Geneva Conventions. The UN Security council voted to condemn Israel, but the US vetoed that condemnation.

Hizbollah receives material support from Syria and Iran. Israel receives financial and military support from the US in free grants and loans. Israel is the only country in the Middle East to known to have nukes.

To fully understand what's going on, you would have to read a lot from both sides, and keep ur head where it belongs. The Israelis tend to drag people by reminding them of the Holocaust. The Palestinians ask people to visit them and c their conditions with their own eyes and then make the judgement.

Finally, it's important to remember, that powerful nations label others "terrorist." The british labeled the americans terrorist. The French labeled the algerians terrorist when the Algerians were fighting for their independence from France which they they achieved in 1962. The Jews were labeled terrorist by the British for fighting for their own independence. And now Palestinians and Hizbollah are labeled terrorists. See a pattern?

1. Best sites to visit are articles in the BBC website: bbc.co.uk
In simplest terms there is a war because Hezbollah, a terrorist organization, kidnapped two Israelis and demanded the release of women and children prisoners. Israel obviously didn't say yes, because that's just asking for more kidnappings.
Israel instead bombed Lebanon because that's where they think Hezbollah is hiding, and so decided that killing Lebanese civillians might scare fanatics into giving up (note the sarcasm). Syria and Iran at least partially fund Hezbollah, and Lebanon is a small state ofrten under the control of Syria, so they got caught in the middle. Once Israel fired, the other side retaliated. The flaw of this war is obviously collapsing states and civilians into terrorist organizations that operate in the country.

2. Nothing good. The countries will become more extreme as a result of this war, terrorism will escalate, the U.S. will no doubt become involved at some point and we all have decades and decades of war in the Middle East to look forward to.

3. Palestine the occupied territory is getting dragged into this because Israel mantains that they have ties with Hezbollah. Again, check the BBC site for the links between the Hamas and Hezbollah organizations.

to reli and jack!!

Before the First World War Palestine was a district ruled by the Turkish Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans were defeated by Britain and her allies in the war.
After WW1 Britain took control of Palestine, but there were many troubles between the Arabs who lived there and Jews who wanted to live there too.

After the Second World War, Britain decided to let the United Nations decide what to do with Palestine.

The United Nations suggested separating Palestine into two countries, one Arab and one Jewish.

The Arab leaders said no to the plan, but the Jewish leaders accepted it and declared the state of Israel. The President of the United States gave his support to the new state.
Since then Israel has set up many Jewish settlements - communities, some tiny, some as big as small towns - in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

These settlements are considered illegal under international law, although Israel does not agree with this.

1. The war is between Israel and Hizbullah, not the Israel and the Lebanese government. Responding to repeated provocations from Hizbullah, which occupies southern Lebanon, Israel launched a massive attack in direct response to the killing of eight soldiers and kidnapping of two of them when Hizbullah infiltrated the border into Israel. Israel is now sytematically destroying the infrastructure of Lebanon, to make the country untenable for use as a base of operations for Hizbullah, and to prevent the movement of the kidnapped soldiers out of the country.

2. Iran and Syrian are both players in Lebanon, with both backing Hizbullah as ther proxies in their continued war of aggression against Israel.

3. There is no Palestine. Perhaps you refer to the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
