It has recently been discovered, there is a rage disorder that makes people get angry quick. This is associated with road rage. I saw it on FOX news. This type of person has a really short fuse and angers quickly, yells at anybody, doesn't apologize either. It can be treated with therapy.

I think that one big factor is poor traffic conditions. We believe that being in a car will get us someplace faster and it aggrivates us when we are stuck in traffic. We are put in a condition were all we want is to get to our destination but all we seem to get is alot of waiting and waisting fuel. We are stuck in a vehicle which we cant get out of and have no other alternative but to wait. Walking and bumping into someone down the street while a bit annoying, doesnt really impede your progress and you are still somewhat in charge of your speed and route.

I guess it also has to do with a lack of patience....how much do we like standing in lines? I guess the same goes for traffic.

People are angry everywhere. What about people who ram your feet in the grocery line or bump into you without apologizing or bullying people at work? People are carrying around a ton of pent up rage. It is just more noticeable in a car because it is an immediate reaction.

Honestly, it's because you can get seriously hurt if another car bumped into you. Plus, you also gotta deal with insurance, damages, medical if any. If someone bumped into me on the street, it's no big deal. I apologize and move on. No harm, no foul. In a car, big harm, huge foul.

it is a good question for the psychology section.
the main reason is they hav about 2 tons of metal around
their bodies, like a medieval knight in full armor.
even the puniest person is almost equal to sir lancelot,
and most ppl still hav animal instincts
in most social situations, so in a car they just feel they
could mess with u more

Because they're inside a 1,000 plus pound vehicle that can be used as a deadly weapon, so some people think when they're behind the wheel of a car they're ten feet tall and bullet-proof.

lack of direct accountability. In a car, you have a sense of safety since you're in a car versus being physically next to them.

I don't know, I get pretty homicidal at Wal-mart.
But I don't yell at people in Wal-mart like I do from my car, although I've had to stop myself. I guess it's the whole "bubble" of your car thing.... you know?
