Im not doing it just to fit in, i have wanted it since before i even had braces but i wasnt old enough to go without parents, now i recently turned 18 so i am really tempted to do it...... for the guy that said it originated in pagan societies, well thats great beacuase i happen to be pegan myself and it has nothing to do with "satan"

I think that's an awful idea. It will draw way to much unwanted attention to your mouth. It will make your mouth look busy and cluttered. It just wont be appealing to look at and it will make orthodontist appointments incredibly unpleasant.

Your orthodonist will most likely make you take the piercing out during appointments because it gets in the way. This is bad because you can't take out the piercing for a matter of months because it has to heal. If you take it out too early it will either get infected or close up.

If I were you, I would wait until I got my braces off. The piercing just wont look right with braces in. I wanted my tongue pierced but I waited until my braces came off because it wouldn't look right with them in. Not to mention when I went to follow up appointments after the braces, they made me take out the piercing and it wound up closing up.

Just be patient.

Bad idea. You're really likely to get one caught on the other. Plus, food and bacteria caught in your braces can lead to your piercing getting infected.

Just wait til the end of the year. It's not that far off.

I'd assume it's a bad idea, I can't imagine it would be very comfortable when they need to do adjustments on your braces and therefore stretch your mouth open. That'll probably hurt your piercing.

ok, you have heard about not kissing other people with braces because they have a high chance of getting caught together and they have to be taken to the orthodonist to be taken apart. Why would you even think of putting something metal in your mouth when you have braces?? Plus other than getting caught on your braces the metal to metal contact isn't good for your teeth or your braces. Especially if you have sensitive teeth.

I had snakebites with my braces and they didn't snag at all, it all depends on your mouth shape. and it depends on what type of jewelry you'd have in your lip, your orthodontist will probably suggest you not to do it because it can break the brackets on your braces. I always had hoops but lip studs will probably cause a little more of a problem depending on the length of the bar. your piercer will be able to tell you the best way to go :)

I wouldn't recommend a lip piercing with braces... I had it withouth braces and it kept scratching against my teeth, so it would be even worse with braces...

unless you want your teeth messed up from the lip piercing, wait until the braces are off, wait until you dont have to wear your retainer all day. when you wear your retainer nights only, then get your lip pierced.
