I quit taking my birth control pills 2 months ago after being on them for 8 years. My first cycle was 32 days. This cycle I am on my 36th day. On cycle day 33 ( the day I expected AF) I woke up with cramps and was just sure I had started. Nothing. I have had some cramping off and on since. Still no AF, but I keep getting negative home pregnancy tests. The last time I tested was Sat. (07/15/06) with first morning urine and BFN. Any advice?

What the hell is "AF" and "BFN"?

This is something you should have discussed with your doctor when you decided to stop taking the pill.

Are you trying to get pregnant?
Were you regular BEFORE you were taking the pill? Your body is adjusting to you not being on the pill. Give it time. If you discussed this with your doctor, they should have told you it take about three cycles for your body to adjust. Educate yourself with facts, not complete stranger's opinions!

You *could* be pregnant, but your hormones are really screwed up right now, so there's no way to really know...

After being on hormonal birth control for so many years, it could be anything. You have no way to know how long your cycles will be once they get started. One cycle doesn't make a *pattern*.

I would suggest you read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler; it will help you determine when (and if) you are fertile and give you the best chance of conceiving. But keep in mind that the use of hormonal birth control could mean that you are infertile for the next several months (up to a year). It also (rarely) causes permanent infertility.

go to the doctor. u probably are not pregnant. cause when takeing birth control pills for 8 years it takes a long time to get back on track thats to say u can even get pregnant i have known ppl to be on BC pills and thay never have kids when thay get off it cuase the BC pills and u can only take BC pills for a total of 10 years in ur life and thats cause if u take them any longer it can make it where a female can not have kids so go see a doctor just cause ur late does not mean u r pregnant for the simple fact u was on BC pills

Your body is still adjusting to being off the pill, but you may want to call your doctor if it worries you. Also, your stress level affects your period so maybe you need to let it bother you so much.

It takes your body a long time to adjust being off of BCP. The longt you were on them, the longer it takes your body to get back to normal. It may take up to a year or more.

i think u should either wait a few more days for your period and then go to the doctors to get a blood test run, in case u arent pregnant they can tell you whats wrong
