Myth! Drinking while pregnant can cause fetal alcohol syndrome, you should never drink while pregnant!

I think it really depends on who you ask. Some believe that ok and that it even helps the baby and some doctors will tell you that you should NEVER drink no matter what it is. I would ask my obgyn and also research and make a choice that I think is best for my baby. I personlly wouldnt do it, just because I wouldnt want to feel guilty if something was to be wrong with my baby, but I know women who have drank things worse then wine and were fine but I know some who drank and there babies did come out fine. So I dont think there is a yes or no answer for that question

I read all the answers so far and I will tell you exactly what my OB told me last week. IT DEPENDS ON THE PERSON AND THE PREGNANCY! When in doubt, ask. My OB told me that since I was kinda stressed out that I should go home and have 3 ounces of red wine mixed with 3 ounces of grape juice or cranberry juice so that I could relax a bit. She also told me to TAKE IT EASY on the wine and to only do it once every 3 days. She didn't say I had to do this and I chose not to since I am a recovering alcoholic. If you chose to, please get a sangria that is low in alcohol. I suggest Boone's farm. Its cheap and VERY low alcohol content.

This is where it gets hypocritical. You're not supposed to have alcohol while pregnant, but red wine is good for certain systems in your body.

Bottom line, you're the one that decides. Red wine can be helpful and have health benefits for an adult but would you want to take the risk that the alcohol in the red wine would or wouldnt affect your growing fetus?

My doctor told me that a glass of red wine once in a while (she actually said one a week) doesn't hurt.
It's going beyond one glass or doing it frequently that causes problems. The reason they put out the ZERO drinking warning is because too many people take advantage, and one becomes two, three, etc. on a daily basis. That is where problems come in.

It is OK to drink a small glass of wine, as in 4-6ozs,of any wine of your choice.Red wine just happens to be good for your blood.DO NOT drink several, just maybe one a day.My OB/GYN told me to drink a small glass of wine instead of giving me pain medication. She said with the placenta being the barrier to all things that we ingest while pregnant, it would be o.k to have a small glass, DO NOT GO OVERBOARD!ONE small glass should relax you, not make you drunk.
Best wishes

Doesnt have to be red wine, but you are allowed to drink 1 glass a week, but I would go for the least in strength, like Arbor Mist. They have great fruit flavors

Never drink wine while pregnant. Nor any other alcoholic beverage. Never. It interferes with the developing nervous system -- you could decrease your child's potential I.Q.

Too much alcohol also gives fetal alcohol syndrome -- it affects the appearance of the child as well as the intelligence.
